The 6-year-old child was being physically combative upon arrival; being restrained by school employee. PD witnessed the boy striking the employee. They then detained him. Within 9 minutes, they made contact with Abigail and within 11, she was transported to hospital.

[9mm handgun], a backpack, a cellphone and one spent bullet casing were recovered close to the student's desk where the shooting occurred.

Chief states this is an unprecedented situation, a 6-year-old-shooter shooting his teacher, Abigail Zwerner. The teacher is reported to be asking how her students are doing; worried about how they are handling.

Abigail requested Chief to tell all that she is thankful and stable. She is appreciative of the support she is getting and will continue to get.
