Was thinking (dangerous hobby of mine) about how Putin's Russia is basically a politically disengaged dictatorship, which makes sure it's people have "just enough" to survive, as long as they don't break any of the dictator's rules (or at least hide it really well).
If you like my threads & tweets, and you want to help support me so I can spend more time on thoughts like this & less time on thoughts of basic survivability myself, please think about supporting me on Patreon. Thank you. https://www.patreon.com/astartiel
I was inspired to write this little thread, after watching this video about the destabilization of Russia, so sharing it here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKrv30RKoyk
After I wrote the thread, I listened to this video about Putin's lies about Ukraine. It basically reinforced everything I just wrote, so I'm including this @ForeignAffairs & @TimothyDSnyder podcast as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qfnza5YmRrE
This gives the majority of the population a sense of "freedom" to do what they want, as long as they don't visibly break any of the dictator's decrees (won't call them laws). As long as you keep your head down in your "free" life, you're "free" to do many things.
