I used to believe or want to believe in metaphysics and the supernatural, but as I get older and see an absolute lack of any evidence, I am doubting it all more and more and thinking people just have good imaginations...
@Astartiel
Enter quantum physics...
@BobC7000 Yeah, things are only spooky at a quantum level...
@Astartiel I watched George Nori talk one day about the "evidence of giants" in the world. He says, "...you just can't make this kind of thing up!"
My first thought is; If evidence of evolutions rattles your core belief in a Young Earth Creationist story, and you consider the Bible a history book, you not only could EASILY make it up, but half the work is already done for you.
IMHO
@rokkinbobokkin I feel ya there. My research of religion sees most just retellings adapted going all the way back to Sumeria. (Insert "It Was Aliens" gif here.)
@Astartiel Moses and Gilgamesh have eerily similar origin stories, right?
@rokkinbobokkin Exactly. And then compare Jesus to Osiris and both to the Epic of Inanna.
@Astartiel
oof...that Jesus one is tough, because that ideration came about several times. We only reference the two popular ones that culturally took off.b
@Astartiel Funny enough, Sumeria's first cities show evidence of a Semitic minority language that coexisted with Sumerian. I'm gonna bet that's not a coincidence.
@rokkinbobokkin I didn't know about that. Going to have to read more on it. Thanks!
@Astartiel Spoiler alert: The Semites rallied and won, that leader is famously known as Sargon. Ur and Urruk were Sumerian cities, but the region outside the city had more Semites.
PS, I Want To Believe.
