French Kicks - Abandon

I’m wishing you well
We’re so far behind
The things you could tell
If you could read this broken mind

This was soooo good. I have to admit, I wasn’t sure how well it would stand in its own, but Ti West and Mia Goth killed it (figuratively and literally) once again. I am absolutely amped for Maxxxine next year.

Pretty excited to have finally gotten this one… if anyone hasn’t seen it yet and wants to watch along, lmk, I am planning on streaming it later this evening (probably around ~ 5ish hours from now).

The theme for our Saturday this week is "spooky, kooky Christmas," when we will be streaming three weird Christmas movies. (All times in US Central):

1. BLOOD BEAT (1983) 8:00

2. RARE EXPORTS (2010) ~9:45

3. THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE (1973) ~11:30

Follow the link below and give me a heads up if you would like to watch along!

FRANKENHOOKER

“A tale of sluts and bolts.”

This is going to be my last post for a while, so I’ll be adding no reminders about the watch party on Saturday. If you need a reminder, click on the “interested” option in the app to get a notification/reminder.

If You Haven't Read 'Frankenstein,' Just Watch 'Frankenhooker'

by Krystal Languell

There are hundreds of film adaptations of Frankenstein, and the translation to film requires some elements to be altered. Perhaps the most gleefully bastardized of them is Frankenhooker. Bill Murray blurbed the film; his comment appears on the video cover: “If you see one movie this year, it should be Frankenhooker.”

A Very Brief History and a Celebratory Review of Basket Case (1982) for it’s 40th Birthday [This review may contain spoilers]

by Julia Alvarado
April 21, 2022

Guided by Henenlotter’s careful eye, the film “Basket Case” paints an unsettling but incredibly accurate depiction of Manhattan in the 1980s…

Top 10 also had Rancid, Neil Young and Mission of Burma, as well as more Nick Cave (with Warren Ellis) and Danny Elfman (my kid and I listen to the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack a lot.)

So Apple Music has a “year in replay” feature That tells you what you listened to most. My number one song this year… 😂

The Replacements - Bastards of Young

Unwillingness to claim us, ya got no warrant to name us
The ones love us best are the ones we'll lay to rest
And visit their graves on holidays at best
The ones love us least are the ones we'll die to please
If it's any consolation, I don't begin to understand them
