I'm in Douglas, Georgia, an hour and a half from nowhere, where you are greeted with Confederate flags at the town entrance. I’m here for Olivia Pearson, the first Black city commissioner. She was arrested by Brian Kemp for supposed vote interference, that is, helping disabled voters. Even a white jury threw it out in minutes. That is why she is sponsoring the local showing of Vigilante here at the Gaines Chapel AME Church.

I’m thinking of my friends here who have been experiencing difficult times lately. Seems to have been happening a lot, whether it’s the loss of a loved one, financial struggles, a decline in physical health, or mental health.
I’ve experienced all of these this year, and it seems like so many of us have. I’m trying to reflect on the things that matter to me most, that the next calendar year might be, if not objectively “better,” at least a little more focused and peaceful. I wish you all peace.

Holy shit, it’s Thursday already? Holy shit, it’s DECEMBER already?! 😳
Last night I watched PYEWACKET (2017) dir. Adam MacDonald. I thought it was a decent slow-burn. Maybe a bit underwhelming, but a tight film that came to an effective climax. Nicole Muñoz, the young actress in the lead role, did a good job with what she was given here. Nothing that will likely blow your mind, but this was an economical and fairly interesting supernatural thriller, for those who may be so inclined.
