When you start looking at the cost of eventually updating electrical, water, heating, soil pipes, it might make the most sense to do it all at once before you actually move in.
@chaddus2_0 @AlphaCentauri we see that a lot here. new building codes to deal with the climate emergency and folks want something custom. Lots of reasons, but it's always a bit of a shock to see a seemingly solid home razed to the ground.
@AlphaCentauri there may well have been enough issues with house to warrant a complete rebuild.
