So this new finish won't provide a lot of gloss unless you wax it afterwards, I reluctantly didn't invest the 50$ in the specific wax that goes with it. 🤔 But it provides a harder and more durable wood finish with no upkeep. So I'm thinking for now, it'll be restricted to custom orders probably, especially since it takes an hour to set in before you can buff it.
@Alora Takes a lot to make a pen. Some pen turner's use CA glue and just turn the wood into plastic covered wood... I don't. I want the wood to feel like wood, but also be durable... a work of art that you can use every day. So spending a little extra time on each one to reach that goal is nothing. If I find a way to make this new finish glossy, I'll switch to it permanently and invest in extra lathe parts so I can have stuff drying while still working,..
