On the 11th December 2022, the Hospital for Children announced they had cured a 13-year-old girl, Alyssa, from an 'incurable' form of leukemia, using a modified form of CRISPR that instead of cutting DNA, changes one letter to another. It's a technique known as base editing, invented just six years ago, and this is the first time it's been used on a person. Following the treatment, Alyssa has no detectable cancer cells, and is now in remission.

The best therapist I ever had told me many go into the field from a place of wound. She told me to interview a potential therapist and ask if they’ve done their own work as well as, the nature of that work.

You’d be amazed how many refuse to answer, feign outrage, say it’s none of the patient’s business. Which of course, answers all the questions immediately.

Never share your wounds with those who are still wounded.
